Order a TalkTalk LLU-based A&A service

A&A has been using BT Wholesale based products since the beginning and recently started offering Be Wholesale based products. TalkTalk have started enabling exchanges in rural areas such as Lincolnshire that BT currently won't touch with a...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 09.05.2013
We now have interconnects with TalkTalk Wholesale and are in a trial period whilst we test out the service. We'll soon be able to offer TalkTalk as an option! Do email in for more details.

Keep all status/service data on aa.net.uk

On a recent status entry at http://s.aa.net.uk/1953 there is a brief note on problems affecting various services with "For more details on what happened, please see [facebook]". A&A should keep all of their service and status data on their own web...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
I will get this reviewed. ^AH
Our status page is now (officially) https://aastatus.net - this is a separate domain, uses separate DNS servers, in a separate country on purpose... However, posting updated and reports to facebook etc is not really on, I do apologise. We'll not do that again.

SIP/TCP support on AASIP

I would like SIP/TCP support to be available on AASIP. The RFC requires both UDP and TCP support, and it would probably have saved a lot of pain this week with non-delivery of fragmented UDP packets stopping me making outgoing calls.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 10.05.2013
Sorry for delay, we're currently developing a new SIP platform based on FireBrick.
Currently TCP is not supported. However, we are compatible with RFC compliant devices; in that devices should fall back to UDP if TCP is unavailable.
It may well be that we do support TCP SIP on the FireBrick.

Disable SMS for Line Up/Down events on Data SIMs

I've got my account set up to text & email me when my ADSL line goes down unexpectedly. That's very useful. Since getting a RevKMobile Data SIM (which is very useful), the system tends to send me text messages about the state of my data SIM at...

Ask BE to allow lines to be switched between PPPoE and PPPoA service

Currently switching a BE line from PPPoE to PPPoA or vice versa requires a cease and reprovide. This has both cost and minimum contract term implications. It would better if this could be done more easily.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 25.09.2012
This is now possible, email in and we can migrate a BE PPPoA to PPPoE, no charge and still 1 month terms.

Expose the congestion and link report pages more

I have had to bookmark the congestion and link report pages as I could never find links to them from the main site. It would be worth including them (more?) prominently on the Tech Support and Knowledge Base pages, unless you prefer to keep them...

Require https to logon to clueless

Ever since I can remember, it's possible to logon to clueless via http or https. From a security point of view, logging on via http is inadvisable. Can you either: (a) have http://clueless.aa.net.uk redirect to the https version, so logon...

Provider reduced cost, reduced functionality Be lines

Have a test SMS button on clueless

Often it comes up on IRC that SMS notification doesn't happen in some instance that you'd expect it to, so the question becomes 'is it working at all, and have I configured it right'. The ability to send a test SMS notification when this happened...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
We have re-written the notifications, it's more reliable, and logs more. It will back-off sending messages in the event of potentially a flood going out (ie, in the case of a flapping line). This should be OK now.

Have all services work with ipv6

Some of the features don't' yet work with ipv6, for example the DNS resolver check appears to be ipv4 only, as the countries number 1 ISP for ipv6 do you you think you should fully support it?
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 03.04.2014
The DNS resolver checker is IP4 only as we don't have enough time to check each customers IPv6 block as there are millions of addresses... Sorry.

incoming folder for "donated" tcpdumps of known-goodPPPoE exchanges

Make "Contact Us" email links mailto: links

The email links on the "Contact Us" page should be mailto: links in my opinion. Having a web form is also a good idea but should be on a separate link (maybe the department heading?)

use a FB that does not cost £400 as CPE for FTTC. I know you can do better than a D-Link 320B / Technicolor. Does a home user need VRRP and .1Q?

Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
(Sorry for delay in replying!) Customers are free to use their own router - we're currently looking in to ZyXELs as a replacement to the Technicolor.

Update some articles on main website that are out of-date. For example http://aaisp.net.uk/kb-broadband-resilience.html

Articles that are written about 'forthcoming' developments, that were in the future at the time of writing, could do with being rewritten to let us know where things are now.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
We are working on moving the KB articles on to a separate 'Support' site, which also makes it easier for staff to update. https://support.aa.net.uk

If you type something in on the 'I would like to...' box on the front page, then that does a search, of sorts.

Toggle night shading on graphs

I find that having night shading on my graphs (I'm a reseller so have a few screenfuls of graphs) is information over-kill. I do think it will be helpful in the future but it would be nice to disable it unless it's needed.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 15.10.2010
We've added a tickbox next to the Graph Opts boxes which will enable/disable the daylight hours overlay.
This is on a per-login basis, so when you log in to Clueless all graphs will use these settings.

Easier DNS management

If you manage a small network, it's not too bad. But it can start to get confusing real fast when the network starts to grow. You could run your own DNS server, but I rather rely on more reliable ones, AAISPs'. Possible Solution: Something a...

The control pages will be re-vamped over time - eg we've recently updated the pages for controlling VoIP numbers. Other pages will follow over time.
We've added a drop-down of other domains on your account to the edit domain page, as well as some simple ordering of the DNS record table.

Run a premium service for people requiring "real" SSL certs

Response from the site administrator

Authorized dealers / managers to offer assistance to customers out-of-hours

There is a large 'community' of customers in our IRC channel who do tend to chip in and offer help where they can out of hours - this is unofficial, but there are often staff lurking too! http://aa.net.uk/kb-irc.html
So for out of hours support or advice then IRC would be the best bet.

Allow the use of IPv6 address ranges outside of broadband connections

I'd like to be able to have the same IPv6 address from my address range usable on my laptop wherever I am, some form of authenticated Toredo / 6in4 style service would be awesome, don't mind if it uses my units :)
