use a FB that does not cost £400 as CPE for FTTC. I know you can do better than a D-Link 320B / Technicolor. Does a home user need VRRP and .1Q?

Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
(Sorry for delay in replying!) Customers are free to use their own router - we're currently looking in to ZyXELs as a replacement to the Technicolor.

Update some articles on main website that are out of-date. For example http://aaisp.net.uk/kb-broadband-resilience.html

Articles that are written about 'forthcoming' developments, that were in the future at the time of writing, could do with being rewritten to let us know where things are now.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
We are working on moving the KB articles on to a separate 'Support' site, which also makes it easier for staff to update. https://support.aa.net.uk

Be able to search AAISP Ideas

I don't want to duplicate previous requests.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
If you type something in on the 'I would like to...' box on the front page, then that does a search, of sorts.

Toggle night shading on graphs

I find that having night shading on my graphs (I'm a reseller so have a few screenfuls of graphs) is information over-kill. I do think it will be helpful in the future but it would be nice to disable it unless it's needed.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 15.10.2010
We've added a tickbox next to the Graph Opts boxes which will enable/disable the daylight hours overlay.
This is on a per-login basis, so when you log in to Clueless all graphs will use these settings.

Easier DNS management

If you manage a small network, it's not too bad. But it can start to get confusing real fast when the network starts to grow. You could run your own DNS server, but I rather rely on more reliable ones, AAISPs'. Possible Solution: Something a...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 15.10.2010
The control pages will be re-vamped over time - eg we've recently updated the pages for controlling VoIP numbers. Other pages will follow over time.
We've added a drop-down of other domains on your account to the edit domain page, as well as some simple ordering of the DNS record table.

Run a premium service for people requiring "real" SSL certs

People keep moaning about A&A using CACert in some places. Although this is fine for most of us, some moaning ninnies seem to think using verisign or whatever is better. So, to cut the crap, people wanting "real" certs, pay a little extra to...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 11.01.2013
Clueless (the control/ordering system) now has a non-cacert certificate.

Display upstream rate on clueless

On the quick line summary on https://clueless.aa.net.uk/main.cgi, the downstream rate is displayed. It would be helpful to also display the upstream rate here.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
Where possible, this is shown on the line page.

Authorized dealers / managers to offer assistance to customers out-of-hours

Instead of hiring another staffer to work off peak and weekends, that a simple scheme is setup so that authorized dealers and managers can assist other customers whilst out of office hours. Customers can already refer a dealer in order for that...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 09.05.2013
There is a large 'community' of customers in our IRC channel who do tend to chip in and offer help where they can out of hours - this is unofficial, but there are often staff lurking too! http://aa.net.uk/kb-irc.html
So for out of hours support or advice then IRC would be the best bet.

Easy access to Usage Summary page

Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 03.05.2013
When you log in to clueless, you will see your lines listed, and one of the columns in the table is 'Rate' -the speed of the line - if you click that link you'll be taken to the usage page. We'll make it clearer though.

Allow the use of IPv6 address ranges outside of broadband connections

I'd like to be able to have the same IPv6 address from my address range usable on my laptop wherever I am, some form of authenticated Toredo / 6in4 style service would be awesome, don't mind if it uses my units :)

Clarify Line Bonding page

http://aaisp.net/kb-broadband-bonding.html Under 'IP routing' (near bottom of page), sentence reads: "Secondary routes also control the allowed source IPs for uplink even when the primary lines are active." Please could this be clarified?...
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 30.11.2010
As the latter - uplink traffic from IPs is allowed where there are tickboxes.
The lines being up or down doesn't have an affect on this. If you have 2 lines, and an IP block is set for Primary on Line 1, and Secondary on line 2, then you can upload traffic on any line, but we will only send traffic to you on line 1. However, if line 1 goes down, then we'll send you the traffic on line 2 instead. I'll update the page to clarify. Thank you for the feedback.

Remove/hide the "log" entries in status posts

The readability of the status page entries is spoiled by the verbose "Log" sections. It would look cleaner if they were hidden behind a "verbose" link or something similar.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 02.03.2011
Done - they shouldn't have been shown anyway. Thank you.

See improved availability on server systems

AAISP seem to have a number of systems that are single points of failure. While they are quick to respond to outages it would be nice to see some resilience in the server estate to reduce the number of potential outages.
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
there are ongoing projects to improve resilience in all areas. Since this post was first made (2011) there would have been many changes in how services are provisioned.

suggest: Notify line up/down: by Email (including invoices) has a time profile similar to sms.

suggest: Notify line up/down: by Email (including invoices) has a time profile similar to sms, this is due to the fact that most smart phones alert when an email is received.

Have additional TTLs available in clueless's DNS editor

When using the DNS editor on clueless, the drop-down box for TTL has "1 second", "1 minute", "1 hour", "1 day". This is rather coarse-grained -- "1 second" and "1 minute" (and "1 minute" and "1 hour") are nearly two orders of magnitude apart....

A service like DYNdns but firebrick and AAISP service based.

For those of us who for what ever reason can't get AAISP or who want static services over dynamic connections. Having a fixed IP routed to a good router via i good service provider. Perfect!
