Warn purchasers of modems (such as the DLink DSL-320B) about MTU 1508 not being available on BTw 20CN

The entries describing the DLink on the A&A website suggests that you will get IP payload MTU of 1500 when in fact 21CN is required. I just bought three based on this promise. Health warning.

Ability to buy an Openreach engineer install

I would like to be able to buy an installation carried out by an Openreach engineer (optionally), at extra cost. Firstly I am disabled. Secondly I am told, no idea if it's true, that BT will then guarantee speeds to within the ‘A-range’ if an...

Modem config - use VC-MUX

I would like the config shipped with AA-supplied modems to always use VC-MUX instead of LLC encapsulation, enable bitswap and enable SRA. * The VC-MUX option instead of LLC gives you a free extra 3.125% speed for 1500 byte IP packets. * SRA is...

Filter and red-flag login from new browser security warning messages

The login from new browser seen security warning messages are a good idea, but there are a number of problems. Firstly it is unclear what counts as ‘new’. The messages should not be frequent red herrings / trivial false alarms as this is...

allow costumers to add notes in clueless re line-related actions for benefit of support

If a customer does something relating to a line - especially something bad, or weird - something might later on have effects that would confuse support staff, then a customer-added note could be valueable. Also it might be valuable for the...

Set clueless up to offer http compression

Turn http compression on in Apache for clueless. Would be good for the really long plain text log files and especially useful now there are SVG graphs, anyway, less uncacheable stuff than before.

Is it time to transition to larger OpenPGP keys?

Given the uncertainty over how long 1024-bit keys will remain secure, is it time to think about a larger company signing key?

PEW warnings shown in clueless to be linked to advance KCI alerts

Currently clueless shows a warning about relevant planned engineering works and other forthcoming outages. Suggest this mechanism should be linked to KCI alerts, perhaps a day and also an hour say in advance of the PEW start time. Obviously it has...

Distribute improved firmware for ZyXel VMG 1312-B10A which fixes the lack of support for MTU 1508 in modem-only

Firmware is now available for the ZyXel VMG 1312-B10A which fixes the lack of support for MTU 1508 in modem-only. It just works, fine. A pre-built bin file is available and the complete sources are I'm told on github and I have read the build...

2AM usage

Why not make 2-4AM charged at 5000MB/unit and 4-6 at 1GB/unit That should be enough to split the usage a bit more. 500MB/unit is enough that most people will not change, but some will want to get the higher usage and change to 4AM splitting...

Allow one-unit pre-pay usage

With the newly increased price a one-unit tariff would be useful.

e-mail users prior to 'at-risk' or greater work being carried out with details. Status pages, and Twitter are ok it you've got access to the internet to read the details.

Send e-mail notification prior to work that places internet connections at risk.

maintain CC list on support tickets

If I'm creating a support ticket relating to a customer's line I'll usually CC them on the initial mail. It would be nice if thankless could keep the CC list so that they're copied in on replies without having to forward them.

Yes, this is a bit of a pain, for staff too! We are looking in to updating the current ticketing platform, so we hope to achieve this later this year (2015)

Mobile Data packages (5GB, 15GB, 30GB)

Offer data packages in large blocks at some discount, typically where the price per MB is prohibitively expensive. Ideally it would be nice to pay £75 to £100 for 30-50GB on a monthly basis, rather than the 2.4p rate per MB (£740+).

Ideas site should not lose idea if you take too long to write it

On this site, if I take too long to write an idea then it gets lost. The form comes back with an error about the Captcha being wrong, and this "idea specification" box is blank. Please fix!
Response from the site administrator
aaisp, 21.04.2015
This is very true... However, the site is run by a 3rd party, we'll feed this back to them.
